Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and also as an United States senator representing California from 2017 until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. She started her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for health care, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials during Senate hearings earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
